German government passes law to implement the ADR Directive

On May 27, 2015, the German government passed the draft law to implement the Directive on Alternative Dispute Resolution in Consumer Matters. The legislator now has time to implement the planned Consumer Dispute Resolution Act by July 9, 2015. The aim of the law is to ensure that out-of-court dispute resolution bodies are available to consumers in the event of disputes with traders. The obligation relates to disputes arising from sales contracts or service contracts. In addition to sector-specific consumer arbitration boards, official and private consumer arbitration boards are also to be set up for this purpose. According to the current draft, the latter must be set up by an association.

You can find the draft law here.
